Editor’s Note
Dear valued partners and stakeholders, welcome to the first quarter edition of our Paitim TalkTok Newsletter which carries information about CIMC work done during this quarter in 2022.
There has been some relief to the challenges brought about by Covid-19, however due to the high level of uncertainty and Covid-19 restrictions on the number of people that can congregate much of CIMC work is still being hampered.
Also with the National Elections approaching, key activities including the Development Forums have been stalled but other activities and Sectoral Committee meetings have continued. Staffs have also participated in stakeholder and partner organised meetings and workshops.
CIMC is a key partner with the Department of Community Development & Religion partaking in the four regional and one national Informal Economy Policy and Voice Strategy consultations.
CIMC has continued to implement the Open Government Partnership (OGP) initiative in the country through cluster commitment (Public Participation) and has provided input to the second National Action Plan (2022-2024) which will guide OGP implementation for the next two years.
CIMC has also supported and provided input to implementation of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) as a member of the Multi Sector Group (MSG) representing Civil Society. It has also partaken in the validation of the EITI implementation in the country.
We hope that Covid-19 restrictions will be reduced or lifted soon to enable us to gather speed with our work and continue engagement with the wider civil society, Government and the private sector.
It is our hope that you will appreciate the work CIMC continues to undertake to ensure equal representation and participation in the development and service delivery discourse.
In doing so the CIMC supports implementation of the Government’s overarching plans and policies that aspire to recognise partnerships and different ways of ensuring greater progress towards achieving the development agenda for our people.
We thank the Government for its continued funding support to the CIMC for it to contribute to the greater development agenda.
